Marijuana Delivery Making Its Way Into Barneys New York

High-end department store Barneys New York has given the marijuana lifestyle the luxury therapy, selling a variety of pot-themed goods this week in the most recent sign a medication once related to bohemians and deadbeats is moving up the social ladder. Barneys also offers sales representatives to assist customers with the process of ordering marijuana delivery to their homes around LA.

Customers at the upscale retailer’s Beverly Hills location on Friday perused a new section with hand-blown glass bongs, Gucci ashtrays, jewelry inscribed with the words “Lighten Up” and cosmetics labeled as containing cannabidiol (CBD), a non-high inducing part of the cannabis plant.

Marijuana remains prohibited by national law, though California is one of 10 U.S. states that has legalized it for recreational use and marijuana delivery.

Barneys New York does not market any marijuana in stores, but the merchant has given area at its Beverly Hills shop to another firm, Beboe.

Beboe’s sales representatives at the store can help customers use an iPad to order marijuana delivery, said Beboe co-founder Scott Campbell.

“It is designed to replace the bottle of wine which you bring to a dinner,” Campbell said. “Our stuff is what we call very socially dosed, which is something you can puff on and get hot and tingly but you are not going to get trapped in your couch for four hours like a lot of other cannabis products“.

Is Luxury Marijuana The New Lifestyle?

Barneys New York’s move to the bud lifestyle marketplace comes more than one year after California, after a 2016 referendum to legalize weed, allowed dispensaries to market the drug to adults to diversion.

“Legalization is only a year old and it is opening our eyes to what is there in the market, what’s missing in the market, what our client wants,” Matthew Mazzucca, who’s the creative director of Barney’s New York.

The retailer famous for lavish fashion products, including leather bags and high fashion jackets and shoes, intends to bring its cannabis-themed “The High End” products to other shops, the company has said.
