But “According to the Red Cross, using marijuana does not immediately disqualify a person as a blood donor,” says Dr. Melanie Bone, a board-certified OB-GYN and cannabis specialist from West Palm Beach Florida.

The Red Cross website states, “The use of cannabis does not disqualify an individual from blood donation, but potential donors cannot give if their use of cannabis impairs their memory or comprehension.”

Do blood banks test for THC?

Currently, there is no rapid testing that shows THC in your blood. Generally, blood banks do not test for THC, CBD, or any cannabinoids. The FDA does not require blood donation centers to test for THC. Obviously, you shouldn’t smoke weed before giving blood and never donate blood if you are currently high.
