Northern Lights
One of the most well known and potent indica strains around, Northern Lights is best known for it’s high yield and THC percentage. Since the 80’s, it has has been setting high standards all across the globe. It is a descendant of indigenous afghani landrace strains that has given great rise to the famous strains like Sour Diesel, Shiva Skunk and Super Silver Haze due to hybridization.
This popular strain first sprouted near Seattle, Washington, but was propagated out of Holland after 1985 at what is now Sensi Seeds. Eleven plants were labeled Northern Lights #1 through Northern Lights #11. Northern Lights #5 was said to have had the best traits and #1 was similarly praised. The strain quickly dominated the Cannabis Cup, winning in 1989, 1998, and again in 2009.
The flowers tend to range from medium green to light green with occasional purple hues coated in crystals. NL has a very strong sweet and spicy taste and offers psychoactive effects that settle in firmly throughout the body helping to relax muscles and pacify the mind into a dreamy euphoric state. Comfortable laziness allows patients to relieve pain and insomnia, while it’s mellow contentment roots out stress and depression.
