It doesn’t mean that your plants are ruined, it just means you have to take some crucial steps while getting them back to normal.
The leaves on your plant are made of up cells. The cells are made up of chloroplasts. These chloroplasts have pigments that absorb light, just like human skin. Chlorophyll is the most dominant pigment and it’s responsible for the green color of the plant. There are also yellow and orange carotenoids that hide under chlorophyll. When plants are healthy and are properly watered and have access to sunlight, chlorophyll thrives and the plant is a beautiful green color. But when the plant gets stressed, chlorophyl begins to fade and the yellow carotenoids start to show. This is why your plants are revealing a yellow color.

Yes, it’s true. Plants can become stressed due to over or under watering, pest infestations, or excessive heat. The good news is, these are all things that can be easily fixed. However, if your plant has excessive amounts of dry, yellow, or dead leaves, it may be too late to bring your plant back to life. Examine your cannabis plant and use your judgement to see if it can be nursed back to health, or if it’s time to say goodbye.

Adjust your watering schedule
Most times, under or over watering is the cause of your leaves turning yellow. Plants that get too much water will become swollen and wilted, and plants that don’t get enough water will be thin and fragile. You should also check to make sure that the water is properly draining near the roots. If it’s not draining right, than the water will get stuck there and this will cause yellow leaves. Always use pots that have drain holes.
Adjust your lights
If your plants are turning yellow near the top of the plant that is close to your light source, than they’re probably suffering from light burn. Just like humans can get sun burned, plants can get light burned. To fix this, move your plant about 8-20 inches away from the light source.
Adjust your temperatures
Plants should be kept in rooms that range from 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit. If it’s too hot, the leaves could get discolored and begin to curl. If it’s too hot in the room, try adding a fan to cool down the temperatures and circulate the air. If it’s too cold, try adding some root insulation. If your plants are on a cold tile or cement floor, put them on something like a stool or bucket to get them up off the cold ground.
Adjust your fertilizer
If you notice that the yellowing is occurring on the stem of the plant near the soil, this could be because of nutrient deficiency. You should adjust your concentration of cannabis-specific fertilizer until the issue is fixed.
