What Is Kief & How Can It Be Used?

What Is Kief?

Have you ever admired the tiny, sticky crystals that cover the cannabis flower? Did you know that they have a name? Yep, they’re called kief, also known as dry sift or pollen. Kief refers to the resin glands which contain the terpenes and cannabanoids that make the marijuana plant so unique. It’s is a very potent compound and is often used in cannabis concentrates.

How to get kief from the cannabis plant

If you love concentrates, why not try extracting your own kief from the cannabis plant? It’s much easier than you may think. Using a three-chamber herb grinder will help you finely grind your cannabis while letting kief crystals fall through a screen and collect into a small compartment. While two chamber grinders are nice, they often let potent kief go to waste since crystals fall off of the dried herb and just stick to the inside of the grinder.

What to do with kief

Now that you’ve got some of the sticky stuff, it’s time to get creative with it. Adding it to your weed is kind of like adding a shot of tequila into your margarita.. it just makes your high a bit more fun! Add some on top of your weed before you light up a bowl! Another one of the most popular ways to use kief is to sprinkle some into a joint while you roll it. Just make sure the kief is evenly distributed throughout the cannabis flower. If you want to get really creative, you can roll a joint, coat the outside with wax and then roll it in kief. If that sounds like too much work, just order one of our Three Kings Kief Joints, and we’ll do all the dirty work for you!
