Welcome, dear friends, to the best recipe you will ever come across in your entire life. We’re taking two of the most popular indulgences and combining them together to create the ultimate snack. Cannabis-infused bacon is crispy, salty, and it’s the perfect way to get the day started right.
The key factor in this recipe is the bacon fat. When the fat gets heated in the pan, it will work with the cannabis to activate the THC in a process known as decarboxylation. This occurs when cannabis is exposed to heat, light, cofactors, or solvents, such as bacon grease. This will allow you to skip the cannabutter for this recipe and just reach for some good ol’ ground-up cannabis.
How to make cannabis-infused bacon
Let’s get to the fun part – cooking! To make this delicious cannabis-infused bacon, you’ll need two obvious ingredients. Cannabis, and bacon.
- 1 lb bacon of your choice – Turkey, pork, etc.
- 1/4 cup ground cannabis
- Start by spreading the ground cannabis over the cookie sheet. Bake in the oven at 225°F for 45 minutes.
- On a separate ungreased cookie sheet, place the bacon strips.
- When the cannabis is done baking, increase the oven temperature to 275°F and sprinkle the cannabis on top of the bacon strips. You can use more or less of cannabis for the desired potency.
- Bake the bacon for 10 minutes, then flip them over and sprinkle cannabis on the other side, and bake again for another 10 minutes.
- After the bacon is done cooking, allow it to cool for a few minutes & enjoy!
What are the best ways to eat cannabis-infused bacon?
When it comes to enjoying this unique edible, the possibilities are truly endless. Bacon has come a long way since being an egg’s trusted sidekick. You can use it as a topping for salads, burgers, sandwiches, and even donuts. You can also use the leftover cannabis-infused bacon grease for salad dressings or as a base for stir-fries, egg dishes, and more!
Get creative and make a bacon cup! Instead of laying the bacon flat on a cookie sheet to bake, layer a few pieces in the inside of a muffin pan. While it’s baking, add in an egg and some veggies to make a low-calorie cannabis-infused breakfast! Or, skip the egg and use it as a salad cup to make a single-serving BLT salad!
When making cannabis-infused bacon, you should decide if you want to use an indica, sativa, or hybrid strain of marijuana. Each type will result in a different experience. If you are planning to eat this for breakfast or in the daytime, then a sativa or hybrid strain would be a great choice. This will ensure that your bacon doesn’t make you sleepy, and you’ll have a decent amount of energy to get through your day. If you’re going to be eating it later in the day or at night, then an indica strain would be a better option. Indica flowers can cause drowsiness, which is a sought-after effect for nighttime smokers who need some help falling asleep.
