As is the case with all social gatherings, when you smoke cannabis in a social setting, there are certain etiquette protocols to follow. If your an experienced smoker than your probably familiar with most of these things, but if your new than you might need some guidelines. Follow along as we explain how to feel comfortable and be respectful during your next smoking sesh.
If your going to a place to smoke and you know there will be other people, than the first rule is to be willing to share your green. Cannabis brings people together, and if your gonna be the only one reaping the benefits, than others will remember that and not want to share with you either. Chances are, no one will be willing to share there weed with you the next time you run out.
Know your limits
An important part of smoking weed is knowing when you’ve had enough. Getting too high is like getting too drunk. No one wants to be the one to take care of you, and you’ll probably ruin the mood for others. Being a responsible smoker is important when joining in on a group smoke sesh. Be sure to stop when you feel like you’ve had enough; you don’t need to impress anyone with how many bong hits you can take.
Remember to puff, puff, pass
Proper cannabis etiquette tells us to puff, puff, pass. Don’t hog the joint for five minutes while your telling a story, and don’t take more hits than others do. If everyone is sharing a joint, than everyone should smoke the same amount. Otherwise, it’s just pain rude. No one likes a rude stoner.
Don’t blow smoke in anyone’s face
Be mindful of where your exhaling after you’ve smoked. Don’t blow your cannabis smoke into anyone’s face, and definitely don’t laugh about it if it does happen. It will kill the mood and you’ll probably get labeled as ‘that guy.’
Make sure your goods are clean
If you bring a bong or bowl to smoke out of, make sure it’s cleaned before smoking from it. No one wants to put there mouth on your grungy pipe that has layers of old ash in it. It doesn’t take that much effort to keep your weed paraphernalia clean, and the others in the smoke sesh will really appreciate you bringing a clean piece.
Pick the right place to smoke
Make sure your choosing an acceptable place to smoke. Be mindful of the laws in your state, and if you can’t smoke in public, than don’t. Never smoke anywhere that there are children around, such as a park or playground; and if there are other adults around, you might want to find a safer place. If you live with someone who doesn’t smoke weed, than don’t smoke in the house where it might bother them. Finding the right spot it is key, so everyone can be happy and your smoking experience will be much more enjoyable.
So than next time you smoke, make sure to take these proper steps for cannabis etiquette. You’ll have a much nicer smoking sesh, and everyone will leave high and happy…and you’ll definitely be invited to joint again next time!
