Jack Herer Strain Review

Is Jack Herer sativa or indica?

Jack Herer is arguably the most popular sativa strain on the West Coast. This uplifting sativa is a popular daytime strain. Jack Herer has a spicy aroma with earthy, rich undertones. This strain is perfect for those days when you have a busy schedule and need an afternoon pick-me-up.

It’s sticky buds have an enticing lemony-citrus aroma and taste with a hint of earthiness. The cerebral high provides an excellent balance between physical effects and a clear headed high, leaving it’s users deeply relaxed yet attentive and aware.

Jack Herer’s looks are not particularly visually impressive, but the trichome count is very high, hence why it is such a sticky plant.  It’s leaves are a pale to medium green shade that form into densely packed buds.

What does Jack Herer smell like?

Once lit, the buds give off a clean and herbal scent, a similar aroma to burning sage. The smooth smoke is not overwhelmingly pungent, but similarly herbal to it’s aroma. Jack Herer leaves behind a lingering spicy- floral scent that is similar to potpourri.

Who is Jack Herer?

Jack Herer is also known as the ‘Emperor of Hemp.’ or ‘The Hemperor’. He was born on June 18, 1939 in Buffalo, NY. He was a pro-cannabis and hemp activist. During his time as an activist, he believed that marijuana plants should be decriminalized. He had an idea that the plant could be used as a renewable source of medicine, food, fuel, and fiber. Herer also believed that it could be grown in any area of the world and be used for medicinal purposes.

The cannabis strain was created by breeders in the Netherlands in the mid 1900s. The strain quickly became popular and the breeders wanted to honor the legend’s contribution to the cannabis world, so they named it after Jack Herer himself.
