Cannabis is floating in the Italian air

Marijuana smoke is actually blowing through the air in many parts of Italy. In 2012, scientists at Italy’s Institute of Atmospheric Pollution Research published a report of their findings on the substances in the air of some of the cities with the highest population. The researchers tested the air in Florence, Milan, Rome, Bologna, Verona, Naples, Palermo, and Turin. They concluded that weed was floating through the air in all eight of these cities, and that Bologna and Florence had the highest levels.

The most common of these terms, you’ve probably heard. Weed, pot, herb, grass. But how about ‘dinkie dow cigarette’? We won’t name them all, but here are some wacky weed terms:

Shakespeare enjoyed smoking weed

Although this can’t be 100% proven, forensic technology has revealed marijuana residue in pipes found in his Stratford-upon-Avon garden. The study used a specialized gas procedure that is known to be extremely sensitive to residue preserved in pipes, even if the residue is hundreds of years old. Four of Shakespeare’s pipes that were studied contain traces of marijuana.

Females have a higher THC tolerance

Although it’s true that everyone responds differently to weed, a study done by Washington State University showed that females have a higher tolerance to THC than males. The study was done on female rats, who like humans, have a menstrual cycle that causes fluctuations in hormones. The researchers found that during ovulation, they were more sensitive to THC so they adjusted their doses accordingly. However, within 10 days, the female rats had built a higher tolerance than the males in the study.
